Az előállítás vasárnap este történt a dél-franciaországi Avigontól húsz kilométerre, egy autópálya-kapunál, ahova a négy ember egy gépkocsival érkezett. A négy letartóztatott között van a feltételezett elkövető, a tettestársa, a gépkocsi sofőrje, és a főgyanúsított lánytestvére.

A tragédia szerda este történt Avignonban, a rendőrt akkor gyilkolták meg, amikor társaival együtt ismert kábítószer-elosztó helyen razziáztak. A helyszínen tartózkodók igazoltatása közben egy férfi többször rálőtt a 36 éves rendőrre, aki a helyszínen meghalt. A többi rendőr visszalőtt, de nem sikerült az elkövetőt előállítaniuk, miután az rollerral elmenekült. A rendőrség azóta kereste nagy erőkkel.

A tájékoztatás szerint az elkövetőt és a segítőjét több napja megfigyelték, egy avignoni lakótelepi ház pincéjében bujkáltak. A gyanúsított és segítője Spanyolországba akart elmenekülni, amikor az autópályán előállították. A belügyminiszter a Twitteren gratulált a rendőrségnek, és jelezte, hogy egy rendőrgyilkosság “nem maradhat semmi esetre sem büntetlen”. A belügyminiszter és Jean Castex miniszterelnök nemzeti megemlékezésen búcsúztatta el a rendőrt.

A France2 közszolgálati televízió értesülése szerint a feltételezett elkövető 19, a tettestársa 21 éves, mindkét férfinak kábítószer-kereskedelemmel kapcsolatos ügyek miatt volt már korábban dolga a rendőrséggel.
