Azt írták: a 45 éves kálmáncsai vádlott otthonának udvarán tartotta a hat év körüli keverék kan kutyáját. Az állat ismeretlen körülmények között megsérült a fején, de mivel a gazdája nem gondoskodott állatorvosi ellátásáról, a nyílt seb elfertőződött. A férfi egy vadásszal szerette volna lelövetni az ebet, aki azonban megtagadta a kérését, ezért a kutyát egy erdős területre vitte, fához kötötte, élelem és víz nélkül magára hagyta.

Másnap a nyüszítését hallva egy helyi lakos kiszabadította az állatot, amely a gazdája szomszédjának udvarára ment, ahonnan a vádlott élettársa hazavitte és egy oszlophoz kikötötte. A férfi a kutya ellátásáról ezután sem gondoskodott, a szomszédja – látva az állat szenvedését – bejelentést tett a rendőrségen. Néhány perccel azután, hogy a rendőrök a helyszínre értek és elengedték, a kutya elpusztult.

A férfit az elsőfokon eljáró bíróság állatkínzás bűntette miatt marasztalta el. A döntést az ügyész tudomásul vette, a vádlott enyhítéséért fellebbezett, így az ügy a Kaposvári Törvényszéken folytatódik.
