Sorozatom első részében egy A-6 Intruder bombázó balesetéről és elvesztésének körülményeiről írtam. A második részben következzen az ember, aki elhatározta, hogy megkeresi a tengerfenékre süllyedt gépet. A volt haditengerészeti és közforgalmi pilótát korábban is foglalkoztatta a gondolat, hogy megtalálja az Intrudert, de a végső lökést az adta számára, hogy élete nem várt fordulatot vett.  

Peter Hunt nevével bő tíz éve találkoztam először, amikor elolvastam Angles of Attack – An A-6 Intruder pilot’s war (Állásszögek – Egy A-6 Intruder pilóta háborúja) címmel írt öbölháborús memoárját. Hunt 1962-ben született New Yorkban. Gyerekként hat évet töltött Görögországban a szüleivel és ott kezdett búvárkodni 1978-ban. 1985-ben diplomázott történészként és azonnal csatlakozott a haditengerészethez. Miután az A-6 Intruder típusra képezték ki, pilótaként a USS Ranger és a USS Kitty Hawk repülőgép-hordozók fedélzetén három bevetésen vett részt a Perzsa-öbölben, az Indiai- és a Csendes-óceánon, illetve oktatópilótaként a nyugati parti A-6-os átképzőszázadnál is szolgált. Hunt tíz évig repült a haditengerészetnél, majd sok pályatársához hasonlóan a légiközlekedésben keresett és talált munkát. A következő éveket a United Airlines pilótájaként töltötte és szenvedélyes búvárként a magasság mellett otthonosan mozgott a mélységben is. Minden rendben ment egészen 2005-ig, amikor 43 évesen azzal szembesült, hogy szervezetét Parkinson-kór támadta meg. Hunt a kritikus infrastruktúrák stratégiai tervezése területen szerzett mesterfokozatot, és öbölháborús könyve után további négyet írt. Két felnőtt gyermeke van, feleségével egykori bázisához közel, Whidbey Islanden él.
