The Christian Democrat, Social Democrat, liberal and green groups, plus the smaller Left group, warned that the latest legislative developments in Hungary will further deteriorate the rule of law, fundamental rights and democracy.

China is distancing itself from comments made by its ambassador in Paris that appeared to question the independence of ex-USSR states — which would include the Baltic EU member states.

The debate will also focus on the 3rd Joint Declaration and its stated goal to take the EU-NATO partnership to the next level. Members will exchange views on concrete actions that need to be taken to achieve this objective in order to create more synergies between the EU Strategic Compass and NATO Strategic Concept.

The Hearing will focus on the follow-up of the Madrid Summit, where Members have set new strategic directions for the Alliance and reinforced NATO's deterrent posture on the eastern flank and sent a strong message to Russia about its unity in the face of aggression against Ukraine.

The debate will also focus on the 3rd Joint Declaration and its stated goal to take the EU-NATO partnership to the next level. Members will exchange views on concrete actions that need to be taken to achieve this objective in order to create more synergies between the EU Strategic Compass and NATO Strategic Concept.

On 26 April 2023, the Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing on the Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience of Ukraine: assessing the feasibility of a Marshall Plan-style facility and of enhanced coordination of defence related support. Since the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the EU has provided considerable support to Ukraine.
Whatever the final outcome of the war will be, Ukraine will undoubtedly come out of it economically devastated and the task of recovery and reconstruction appears therefore as a gigantic effort, which is hard to measure. Building on the conclusions of the Ukraine recovery Conference which took place on 4-5 July 2022 in Lugano, MEPs will debate with the invited experts the feasibility and the technical challenges of a Marshall Plan-style recovery plan.
