Joint statement following the 24th EU-Ukraine Summit

On 1 February 2023, Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe travelled to Frankfurt where he attended the Governing Council meeting of the European Central Bank.

The Council adopted three assistance measures under the European Peace Facility that provide further military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Council body that oversees the implementation of the EU’s code of conduct on business taxation has elected María José Garde as its new chairperson.

The EU issued a statement on the 2nd anniversary of the military take-over in Myanmar stressing that it stands unequivocally with the people of Myanmar in their demands for civilian rule and democracy.

The Council appointed Dimitrios Karabalis as the new Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

The EU-Ukraine summit will take place on 3 February 2023.

The Council approves conclusions on EU priorities for cooperation with the Council of Europe in 2023-2024

Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Implementing Decision (CFSP) 2022/2398 of 8 December 2022 implementing Decision 2010/788/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Council adopted a recommendation on adequate minimum income to combat poverty and social exclusion. Income support is considered adequate when it ensures a life in dignity at all stages of life. Member states are recommended to gradually achieve the adequate level of income support by 2030 at the latest, while safeguarding the sustainability of public finances.

The Council prolonged restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine by six months.

Weekly schedule of President Charles Michel, 30 January – 3 February 2023

Press briefing ahead of the upcoming Agriculture and Fisheries Council will take place on 26 January 2023 at 14.00.

The agreed texts will make it possible for the relevant authorities to address judicial orders for electronic evidence directly to service providers in another member state.
