Spanien und Chile hoffen, dass der Klimagipfel (COP25) dazu dienen wird, eine neue Phase der Bekämpfung der Klimakrise einzuleiten, die nicht nur von den Zentralregierungen getragen wird, sondern alle Verwaltungen, die Gesellschaft insgesamt sowie den Privat- und Produktionssektor einbezieht.

Die französische Versicherungsgesellschaft AXA hat ihren eigenen Plan angekündigt, bis 2030 die Kohleförderung in Europa auslaufen zu lassen. Axa will keine Unternehmen mehr versichern, die zu sehr von fossilen Brennstoffen abhängig sind. Laut NGOs hat dieser Plan "keine toten Winkel".

Heute u.a. mit dabei: Die "großen Erwartungen" der Mitgliedsstaaten an die neue Kommission, die Klimakrise, und… Gentiloni.

Die Slowakei wird die Istanbul-Konvention zur Verhütung von Gewalt gegen Frauen nicht ratifizieren. Auch eine Ratifizierung auf EU-Ebene könne nur einstimmig von den Mitgliedstaaten vereinbart werden, hieß es aus Bratislava.

Die EU-Abgeordneten wählten die neue Kommission, verabschiedeten den EU-Haushalt für 2020, forderten ein klimaneutrales Europa und verliehen den LUX-Filmpreis 2019.

Fostering the strategic partnership with Japan: On 27 November SEDE Chair Ms Nathalie Loiseau received a Japanese delegation, composed of Members of the National Diet, led by Mr Itsunori Onodera, Member of the House of Representatives. The talks focussed on the challenging global security situation, the strains on multilateralism and the rules-based global order, EU efforts in the area of defence and the EU-Japan cooperation in security and defence matters. The Japanese parliamentarians were part of an official delegation travelling to Strasbourg for the 39th EU-Japan Inter-parliamentary Meeting.

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2019/1720 of 14 October 2019 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Nicaragua.

Following the consent of the European Parliament, the European Council appoints the new Commission until October 2024.

The Council today reached agreement on a draft directive on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers.
