Der Rat hat sich heute auf ein partielles Verhandlungsmandat für eine grundlegende Reform des EU-Zollrahmens geeinigt. Die Überarbeitung wird den Zollbehörden in der gesamten EU ein moderneres Instrumentarium an die Hand geben, um mit übergeordneten Trends umgehen zu können.

Auf der Pressekonferenz im Anschluss an die Tagung des Europäischen Rates vom 26. Juni 2025 stellte Präsident António Costa die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der Beratungen vor.

Three ministers have put forward their candidacy to become president of the Eurogroup:Carlos Cuerpo, Paschal Donohoe and Rimantas Šadžius. The election of the new president will take place at the next meeting of the Eurogroup on 7 July. The president is elected by a simple majority of the Eurogroup ministers, in line with the Treaty's Protocol 14 on the Eurogroup.

The Council today agreed on a partial negotiating mandate on a fundamental reform of the EU customs framework. The overhaul will give customs authorities across the EU a more modern toolbox to deal with overarching trends.
