US President Trump wants to withdraw from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The agreement between the US and the former Soviet Union committed the two countries to a ban on mid-range missiles and was viewed as a milestone on the path to ending the Cold War. The parliament of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (Fyrom) has voted in favour of amending the constitution so that in future the country will be called the "Republic of North Macedonia", as agreed with Greece. In a non-binding referendum at the end of September more than 90 percent of those who took part in the referendum voted in favour of the name change but the necessary quorum wasn't reached.

Donald Trump has rejected Riyadh's claim that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in a fight that broke out in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul as unconvincing. Meanwhile Erdoğan has announced that he will reveal the "naked truth" about Khashoggi's death on Tuesday.
