Joint press statement following the 11th meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Council between the EU and Albania.

As part of his visit to the region, President Charles Michel is today in Georgia, where he met with President Salome Zourabichvili. In his statement to the press following their meeting, the President called on all parties to step up their efforts to resolve the political crisis.

Following their meeting in Chisinau, European Council President Charles Michel and President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu addressed the press and outlined the main topics of their discussion.

The Council has today requested the European Parliament's consent to its decision on the conclusion of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and a security of information agreement.

The Council prolonged until 28 February 2022 the existing sanctions against high-level officials and entities responsible for the violent repression and intimidation of peaceful demonstrators, members of the opposition and journalists in Belarus.

The EU issued a declaration reiterating its strong commitment to and continued support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and expressing its deep concern about Iran’s decision to suspend the provisional application of the Additional Protocol as well as additional transparency provisions as of 23 February 2021.

EU extends mandates of six EU special representatives.

The EU issued a declaration on the seventh anniversary of the violent, illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation, reiterating that it does not recognise and continues to condemn this violation of international law.
