In his speech at the Malmö International Forum on Holocaust and Remembrance, European Council President Charles Michel recalled that the EU was conceived and built as a project of solidarity, cooperation, and tolerance.

On the European and World Day against the Death Penalty, the EU issued a declaration reaffirming its firm opposition to capital punishment at all times and in all circumstances.
