The Council’s Permanent Representatives Committee today adopted a negotiating mandate on the proposal for a decision on the obligation to notify CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) offsetting requirements.

President Michel continued his Western Balkan trip with a visit to Albania, where he emphasised the EU's firm commitment to Albania's accession path. President Michel also thanked Albania for standing united with the EU in the support to Ukraine.

During the first part of his Western Balkan visit, President Michel, speaking in Serbia, reaffirmed the EU's full commitment to the country’s accession negotiations. He added that the EU is counting on Serbia’s support to help end Russia’s war in Ukraine. President Michel also visited the Belgrade Science-Technology Park.

The co-legislators reached a provisional agreement on the single window for customs proposal which will make international trade easier, shorten customs clearance times and reduce the risk of fraud.

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2022/661 of 21 April 2022 amending Decision (CFSP) 2016/849 concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

An important step to improve EU security of supply in the context of the war in Ukraine was taken today with the provisional political agreement reached between the Council and the European Parliament on the legislation on gas storage. The proposed regulation aims to ensure that storage capacities in the EU are filled before the winter season and can be shared between member states in a spirit of solidarity.

The European Union and Canada published a joint declaration following the third EU-Canada Joint Ministerial Committee meeting.

The EU issued a declaration on the 2022 International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT), reaffirming its strong commitment to respect, protect and fulfil the full and equal enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) persons.

The Council prolonged the framework for restrictive measures against cyber-attacks threatening the EU and its member states until 18 May 2025.
