A meeting took place in Tashkent between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and European Council President Charles Michel. They reaffirmed that in recent years the relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union have been elevated to a qualitatively new level.

The third CELAC-EU Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in Buenos Aires on 27 October 2022, with the theme "Renewing the bi-regional partnership to strengthen peace and sustainable development".

The Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement on stricter CO2 emission performance standards for new cars and vans. Pending a formal adoption, the co-legislators agreed to a 55% CO2 emission reduction target for new cars and 50% for new vans by 2030 compared to 2021 levels and to a 100% CO2 emission reduction target for both new cars and vans by 2035.

President Michel attended the first regional high-level meeting, held in Astana, together with the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together for peace and security and stressed the importance of cooperation on sustainable connectivity.

During his first visit to Kazakhstan, President Michel held a joint press conference with President Tokayev highlighting their wide-ranging discussion on the common challenges at this critical juncture.

European Council President Charles Michel and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Astana where they confirmed the high level and dynamic development of relations between Kazakhstan and the EU over the past 30 years. They agreed to further strengthen, deepen and expand the Kazakh-EU multifaceted cooperation.

Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2022/1986 of 20 October 2022 amending Decision 2014/145/CFSP concerning restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

The EU has reviewed its restrictive measures in view of the situation in Burundi, renewed the sanctions regime for one year, and delisted three individuals.

A Tanács a mai napon megállapodásra jutott (általános megközelítést ért el) az épületek energiahatékonyságáról szóló irányelv felülvizsgálatára irányuló javaslatról. A felülvizsgálat fő célkitűzése, hogy 2030-ra minden új épület kibocsátásmentes épület legyen, 2050-re pedig a meglévő épületeket kibocsátásmentes épületekké alakítsák át.

A Tanács következtetéseket hagyott jóvá, amelyek az ENSZ 2022. novemberi, az egyiptomi Sarm-es-Sejkben tartandó 27. éghajlatváltozási konferenciájára (COP27) vonatkozó általános uniós tárgyalási megbízásként szolgálnak majd.

The Council today approved conclusions in view of the conference of parties for the United Nations Biodiversity summit to be held in Montreal, Canada, from 7 to 19 December 2022. The conclusions will serve as the EU’s general negotiating position in the meeting.

A Tanács két rendeletet fogadott el, amelyek célja javítani az Uniónak a jövőbeli világjárványokra és más, határokon át terjedő egészségügyi válságokra való reagálási képességeit. A Tanács ezáltal módosította „a határokon át terjedő egészségügyi veszélyekről” szóló jogszabályt, valamint megerősítette az Európai Betegségmegelőzési és Járványvédelmi Központot (ECDC).
