Az Európai Tanács tagjai – a 2020. március 26-án tartott nem hivatalos videokonferenciát követően – nyilatkozatot fogadtak el a COVID-19-járványra válaszul hozott uniós intézkedésekről, az EU bővítéséről, a Horvátországban bekövetkezett földrengésről és az EU külső határain kialakult helyzetről.

The members of the European Council will follow up, by video conference, on the EU’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Az uniós állam- és kormányfők két óra helyett hat órán át tárgyaltak videókonferencián. Későbbre halasztották a döntést, az EP viszont 37,8 milliárd eurós támogatást hagyott jóvá.

A Parlament csütörtöki rendhagyó plenáris ülése jóváhagyta a COVID-19 járvány elleni közös fellépés jegyében beterjesztett három kulcsfontosságú intézkedést.

Az európai határokat lebontó egyezmény életbe lépésének évfordulóján gyakorlatilag az összes határon korlátozzák a forgalmat a koronavírus miatt.

A Parlament elnöke, David Sassoli csütörtökön sajtótájékoztatót tart a plenáris ülésen és az Európai Tanács ülésén tartott beszédeit követően.
