Az állandó képviselők jóváhagyták az aarhusi rendelet felülvizsgálatára irányuló javaslatról az Európai Parlamenttel július 12-én elért ideiglenes politikai megállapodást. A felülvizsgálat célja, hogy a rendelet teljes mértékben összhangba kerüljön a környezeti ügyekben az információhoz való hozzáférésről, a nyilvánosságnak a döntéshozatalban történő részvételéről és az igazságszolgáltatáshoz való jog biztosításáról szóló Aarhusi Egyezménnyel.

A Tanács két jogalkotási javaslattal kapcsolatban állapodott meg tárgyalási álláspontjáról. Az említett javaslatok az Európai Betegségmegelőzési és Járványvédelmi Központ új megbízatására, illetve a határokon át terjedő egészségügyi veszélyekről szóló új rendeletekre vonatkoznak.
