INTERLAKEN BE - Noch nie kamen so viele Rockfans ans Greenfield-Openair wie dieses Jahr. Sie verschaffen dem Aufräum-Team eine Heidenarbeit.

Verlassene Zelte, Bierdosen, Kleider: Der Flugplatz in Interlaken BE gleicht nach dem Greenfield-Festival einer Mülldeponie. Das Openair dauerte zum ersten Mal vier Tage und zog 100'000 Besucher an – das ist Rekord.

Die Rockfans hinterlassen ordentlich viel Abfall. So viel, dass die Aufräumarbeiten noch bis Ende Woche dauern. «Wegen dem Wetter sind wir sicher noch bis diesen Freitag dran», sagt Greenfield-Mediensprecher Michael Andai zu BLICK.

Wie viel Müll die Rockfans produzieren, will Andai nicht verraten. Das Abfallkonzept sei jedoch aufgegangen, versichert er. 

Festival setzt auf Mehrweggeschirr

Um die Fans schon zu Beginn auf das Thema Abfall aufmerksam zu machen, erhielten die Musikfans gleich beim Eintritt aufs Gelände einen Abfallsack und einen Jeton. Das Depot von zehn Franken bekamen sie erst zurück, wenn sie den Abfallsack wieder voll zurückbrachten. «Wir hatten zudem 20 Franken Depot auf die weissen Pavillon-Zelte. Trotz Schlamm und Regen haben über 80 Prozent der Besucher diese wieder zurückgebracht», sagt Andai erfreut.

PET-Flaschen und Aludosen mussten separat in den Recyclingstellen auf dem Campingplatz entsorgt werden. Grundsätzlich habe dies auch gut funktioniert: «Die jungen Leute wachsen ja mittlerweile mit Recycling auf und machen stark mit», so Andai. Verwendet wurde zudem ausschliesslich Mehrweggeschirr.

Zusätzlich sorgten Reinigungsteams auf der Strecke zwischen dem Gelände und dem Bahnhof für Sauberkeit.

St. Gallen: Zwei Kilo Abfall pro Besucher

Beim Openair St. Gallen vom 30. Juni bis 3. Juli geht man mit einem ähnlichen Konzept vor – die Ostschweizer sind aber noch strenger. «Aludosen und Glas sind verboten», sagt Mediensprecherin Sabine Bianchi. Hier wird der Abfall bereits seit 25 Jahren getrennt.

«Auf dem Gelände sorgen zudem sogenannte Trash-Heroes für Sauberkeit», sagt Bianchi, falls doch einmal jemand seinen Abfall liegen lässt. In der Regel produziert ein Besucher am Openair St. Gallen pro Tag 2 Kilogramm Müll. Die Rückgabequote des mit Depot belegten Mehrweggeschirrs lag letztes Jahr bei stolzen 93 Prozent.

Auch in St. Gallen gilt die 20-Franken-Depot-Regel für Zelte. Letztes Jahr nahmen die Besucher so 85 Prozent aller Zelte wieder mit. Mit dieser Zahl ist Bianchi zufrieden, das Depot soll daher nicht erhöht werden. «Auch wenn eine noch höhere Rückgabequote natürlich schon wäre», so Bianchi.

Das Openair Frauenfeld, das Anfangs Juli über die Bühne geht, wollte zum Abfallkonzept gegenüber BLICK keine Stellung nehmen. Auf der Webseite führen aber auch sie die Depot-Regel für Zelte auf und weisen auf die PET- und Alusammelstellen hin

In der Schlafzone wird auf dem Gurten nur geschlafen

Vom 14. bis 17. Juli startet in Bern das 33. Gurtenfestival. Auch hier kommen Trash-Heroes zum Einsatz, erklärt Mediensprecher Simon Haldemann. «Wenn das Gelände nie mit Abfall übersät ist, haben die Besucher auch keinen Anreiz, etwas liegen zu lassen», so die Erfahrung, die Haldemann am Gurtenfestival gemacht hat.

Mitgebrachte Zelte werden auf dem Berner Hausberg praktisch alle mitgenommen. «Wir haben keinen Campingplatz, sondern eine Schlafzone», erklärt Haldemann weiter, mitgebrachte Sofas oder Grillroste seien nicht erlaubt. Die Besucher halten sich daher nur zum schlafen dort auf.

Wer zudem am Ende des Festivals einen Abfallsack zurück bringt, wird mit einem kleinen Geschenk belohnt, so der Mediensprecher. (stj/lz)

The definition of sovereignty is ‘supreme power or authority’. Only one country in the world has that. North Korea.

But whilst North Korea has cast iron sovereignty over its nation and people, in the outside world it has very little power, authority or influence.

In the modern, rational, democratic world, countries recognise that sharing some sovereignty actually increases their power and strength.

NATO countries realise that in their promise to come to the immediate aid of another NATO country under attack. That’s a classic example of sharing power and sovereignty.

‘Leave’ campaigners say that Britain was misled into thinking that the European Community was only ever about free trade. That, of course, is nonsense – which any cursory study of history will reveal.

The European Economic Community (now called the European Union) was always about a Union of countries sharing some of their power, sovereignty and strength for the common good.

Back in 1962, when Britain first applied to join the European Community, there was much talk about what impact joining would have on Britain’s sovereignty.

The then Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, explained to the British people:

“Accession to the Treaty of Rome would not involve a one-sided surrender of ‘sovereignty’ on our part, but a pooling of sovereignty by all concerned, mainly in economic and social fields.

“In renouncing some of our own sovereignty we would receive in return a share of the sovereignty renounced by other members.”

Mr Macmillan added:

“The talk about loss of sovereignty becomes all the more meaningless when one remembers that practically every nation, including our own, has already been forced by the pressures of the modern world to abandon large areas of sovereignty and to realise that we are now all inter-dependent.

“No country today, not even the giants of America or Russia, can pursue purely independent policies in defence, foreign affairs, or the economic sphere.

“Britain herself has freely made surrenders of sovereignty in NATO and in many other international fields on bigger issues than those involved in the pooling of sovereignty required under the Treaty of Rome.”

Over fifty years later, one might have thought these issues would have been settled and agreed by now.

But it seems some British people (actually, they most often call themselves ‘English’ rather than British) do not accept this idea of sharing some sovereignty for the common good.

They want England to have ‘supreme power’, meaning complete sovereign rule over its nation and its people, presumably just like in the ‘good old days’ when England had supreme power over its nation, its citizens and its Empire.

For those of us who belong to the modern world, we can see this makes no sense.

Britain is part of a planet that increasingly needs to work together with other nations, and working together, means sharing some power and agreeing some rules.

That’s our road to more civilisation, safely and prosperity.

That, of course, is the great strength of the European Union. 28 neighbouring countries coming together to share power and influence for the common good. It’s a huge success.

The EU is the world’s most successful economic, trade and political union of countries. No one can deny that the EU is the world’s biggest, richest economy, and that it has considerable influence in the world.

Let’s not throw that away by retreating into an island mentality. Having 100% sovereignty – like North Korea – will not make Britain Great. It will make us small.

Britain really is ‪’Stronger In’ the EU.

Tömegverekedés tört ki az ukrán parlament szerdai ülésén a képviselők között, ezúttal egy olyan felszólalás váltotta ki az összetűzést, amely a Lemberg (Lviv) melletti szeméttelep súlyos természeti katasztrófával fenyegető égésével foglalkozott.

Dmitro Kolesznyikov, a Viktor Janukovics megbuktatott ukrán elnök egykori hívei által alapított Ellenzéki Blokk képviselője súlyos szavakkal bírálta Andrij Szadovij lembergi polgármestert, az Önsegély (Szamopomics) nevű parlamenti párt vezetőjét. Korruptnak, hanyagnak, hazugnak nevezte, és lemondásra szólította fel.

Volodimir Paraszjuk független képviselő e szavak hallatán odafutott a honatyához, és kikapcsolta a mikrofonját. Ezután különböző frakciók képviselői lökdösődni, majd verekedni kezdtek.

Az ülést vezető Andrij Parubij házelnök többször próbálta rendre inteni a képviselőket, közben felszólította az Ellenzéki Blokk tagjait, hogy ne tegyenek provokatív kijelentéseket, és “mutassanak tiszteletet kollégáik és egészében az ukrán nép iránt”. Jurij Bojko, a Janukovics-párti tömörülés vezetője válaszul figyelmeztette a házelnököt, hogy ne akarja elhallgattatni ellenzéki képviselőtársait.

Közben a szószéket második napja állja körül az Oleh Ljasko vezette Radikális Párt 10-12 képviselője, követelve, hogy állítsanak fel ideiglenes vizsgálóbizottságot Petro Porosenko elnök és más ukrán tisztségviselők offshore cégeinek kivizsgálására. A radikálisok “szószékbojkottja” miatt a képviselők az üléstermi helyükről szólalnak fel.

Paraszjuk tavaly novemberben azzal került be a hírekbe, hogy a korrupcióellenes bizottság ülésén fejbe rúgta az Ukrán Biztonsági Szolgálat (SZBU) egyik vezető tisztségviselőjét.

Az ukrán médiában napok óta vezető téma a Lemberg melletti hribovicsi hulladéklerakóban történt baleset és következményeinek felszámolása. Múlt hétfőn kigyulladt, majd oltás közben beomlott, és négy embert maga alá temetett az ország legnagyobbjaként számon tartott hulladéklerakó. A baleset következtében rendkívül veszélyes anyagok kerültek a környezetbe, Lemberg pedig a “hulladékválság” peremére sodródott, mert nincs hová szállítani a több mint 700 ezer lakosú megyeszékhely szemetét.
