The European Union is forging strong economic and political relations with the Republic of Korea. Since the upgrade of relations between the EU and the Republic of Korea to a Strategic Partnership, in 2010, the level of commitment from both sides has been very high. The three key agreements, covering all three pillars of political, trade and security, as well as more specific agreements in several fields, offer a wide scope for cooperation and room for further development of relations between the European Union and the Republic of Korea.

The European Union and Georgia enjoy a very close and positive relationship. The EU-Georgia Association Agreement entered into force in July 2016 and strives for political association and economic integration between the EU and Georgia. The EU and Georgia have also entered into a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), while Georgian citizens have benefitted from visa free travel to the Schengen area since 28 March 2017.

The 25th EU-Japan Summit takes place on 17 July 2018, in Tokyo. At the summit, leaders are expected to sign the EU-Japan economic partnership agreement and the EU-Japan strategic partnership agreement. Also, they discuss strategic cooperation and international relations. The EU is represented by Donald TUSK, President of the European Council, and by Jean-Claude JUNCKER, President of the European Commission. Cecilia MALMSTRÖM, European Commissioner for Trade, also participates at the Summit. Japan is represented by Prime Minister Shinzo ABE.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a potential candidate country for EU accession following the Thessaloniki European Council, in June 2003. On 15 February 2016, the application of Bosnia and Herzegovina for EU membership was submitted by the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

President Donald Tusk and President Jean-Claude Juncker represent the EU at the 20th EU-China summit. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang hosts the summit. EU leaders also have talks with President Xi Jinping. EU and Chinese leaders discuss bilateral trade, investment relations and foreign and security issues. They are expected to express their joint support for rules-based trade. They are also expected to confirm their mutual engagement for the modernisation of the World Trade Organisation.

Albania is a candidate country following the Brussels European Council of June 2014. The country became a potential candidate country for EU accession following the Thessaloniki European Council of June 2003. On 18 February 2008 the Council adopted a new European partnership with Albania. The Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA)  with the country entered into force on 1 April 2009.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and from the EU meet in Brussels on 16 and 17 July 2018. "Building bridges and strengthening our partnership to face global challenges" is the theme of the meeting. At the end of the meeting, EU and CELAC ministers are expected to adopt a declaration.

The EU is moving steadily towards enhancement of its relationship with Iraq and is committed to a long term, mutually beneficial relationship. The general focus of EU support is on helping Iraq to better use its own resources, through capacity building activities in the areas of good governance; socio-economic recovery through education and strengthening institutional capacity; water management and agriculture.

Together, the EU and the USA have the largest bilateral trade and investment relationship in the world, roughly 31% of the world trade and over 49% of the world GDP. In keeping with the evolving political and legal personality of the EU, there is active cooperation across a host of sectors: cooperation in justice and home affairs, energy and energy security, environment, science & technology, education & training. On 14 June 2013, the Council of the European Union adopted negotiating directives  for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with the US.
