This Sunday's elections in the East German states of Saxony and Thuringia preoccupy the press across Europe. Commentators focus in particular on the fact that the AfD, which is classified as a suspected right-wing extremist party by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, is ahead in the polls in both states and stands to win around 30 percent of the vote. The high level of support for the new Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) is also noted.
