Debate: Poland: attack on Pride premiere in Białystok

The first Gay Pride in Białystok, in north-east Poland has been overshadowed by violence. Right-wing counterdemonstrators attacked the eight-hundred or so participants at the parade on Saturday, throwing stones, fireworks and bottles at them. According to the police, officers escorting the parade were also attacked. Commentators urge the Polish Church in particular to rethink its position.
