The EU will set up a European Cybersecurity Industrial, Technology and Research Competence Centre in Bucharest, Romania.

The European Solidarity Corps programme 2021-2027 has been provisionally agreed between the Council and the European Parliament. It provides for a large set of opportunities for young people to participate in voluntary solidarity actions and humanitarian aid activities both in and outside the EU.

On 10 and 11 December 2020, the European Council adopted conclusions on the MFF and Next Generation EU, COVID-19, climate change, security and external relations.

The German presidency of the Council today reached a provisional political agreement with the European Parliament's negotiators on the proposed regulation establishing Horizon Europe, the EU framework programme for research and innovation for the years 2021 to 2027.

The European Council appointed Frank Elderson as a member of the European Central Bank's executive board. He will take up his duties on 15 December 2020 for a non-renewable term of eight years.

The EU is working to stop terrorists from using the internet to radicalise, recruit and incite to violence.

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2020/1748 of 20 November 2020 amending Decision (CFSP) 2019/797 concerning restrictive measures against cyber-attacks threatening the Union or its Member States.
