EU leaders and social partners met at the tripartite social summit to discuss "tackling the energy crisis and the cost of living crisis: How to protect the economy, businesses and workers".

The EU issued a statement on the intense fighting in the northern part of Ethiopia deploring the dramatic escalation of violence and the irreparable cost to human life and calling for an immediate halt to the joint offensives launched by Ethiopian National Defence Forces in collaboration with Eritrean Defence Forces, and a full withdrawal of Eritrean troops from the sovereign territory of Ethiopia.

The Council adopted a decision setting up a military assistance mission in support of Ukraine, with the aim of enhancing the military capability of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, and thus allow Ukraine to defend its territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, effectively exercise its sovereignty and protect the civilians.

Council Conclusions on the Trade and Sustainability Review

The Council adopted a decision prolonging the restrictive measures against ISIL/Da’esh and Al-Qaeda for a further year, until 31 October 2023.

The Council decided to temporarily deploy up to 40 monitoring experts on the Armenian side of the international border between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan with the objective of monitoring, analysing and reporting on the situation in the region.

The Council gives its final go-ahead to EU rules to promote more balanced gender representation on the boards of listed companies.

The Council approves conclusions to strengthen the security of ICT supply chains.
