A Tanács a mai napon két olyan rendeletet fogadott el, amelyek lehetővé fogják tenni, hogy az EU 2030-ig legalább 55%-kal csökkentse nettó üvegházhatásúgáz-kibocsátását az 1990-es szintekhez képest. Az egyik az ún. „közös kötelezettségvállalási rendelet”, a másik pedig a földhasználati, földhasználat-változtatási és erdőgazdálkodási (LULUCF) ágazatról szóló rendelet.
