Május 9-én ünnepli az Európai Unió a 2023. évi Európa-napot, amely az 1950. május 9-i Schuman-nyilatkozatról való megemlékezés pillanata. E különleges nap alkalmából az uniós intézmények, köztük az uniós küldöttségek és képviseletek az idén is számos különböző online és offline eseményt szerveznek, lehetőséget biztosítva az embereknek arra, hogy felfedezzék és közelebbről megismerjék az Európai Uniót.

A főképviselőnek az Európai Unió nevében tett nyilatkozata egyes harmadik országoknak az Ukrajna területi integritását, szuverenitását és függetlenségét aláásó vagy fenyegető intézkedések miatti korlátozó intézkedésekről szóló 2014/145/KKBP határozat módosításáról szóló, 2023. április 13-i (KKBP) 2023/756 tanácsi határozathoz történő csatlakozásáról.

RefuelEU aviation initiative: Council and Parliament reach a provisional agreement to decarbonise the aviation sector.

A Tanács következtetéseket hagyott jóvá a fenntartható és körforgásos biogazdaságban az EU előtt álló kihívások kezelése tekintetében rejlő lehetőségekről, különös tekintettel a vidéki területekre.

A Tanács a mai napon az „Irány az 55%!” intézkedéscsomagba tartozó kulcsfontosságú jogszabályokat fogadott el. Az intézkedéscsomag lehetővé teszi, hogy az EU a főbb gazdasági ágazatokban teljesítse az éghajlat-politikai célkitűzéseket, biztosítva ugyanakkor, hogy a leginkább kiszolgáltatott helyzetű polgárok és mikrovállalkozások, valamint a kibocsátásáthelyezésnek kitett ágazatok hatékony támogatásban részesüljenek az éghajlatvédelmi átállás során.

A Tanács a mai napon új jogszabályt fogadott el az úgynevezett ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) személyszállító hajókra, más néven kompokra vonatkozó stabilitási követelmények javítása érdekében.
