Debate: Is the FPÖ right to contest election results?

The national conservative Freedom Party (FPÖ) is challenging the close results of Austria's presidential election in court. On Tuesday the party's leader Heinz-Christian Strache filed a 150-page document with the country's constitutional court listing irregularities in the election. With this move the FPÖ has once again successfully cast itself as the victim, some commentators object. Others take a positive view of the probe.

Debate: Swiss vote against universal basic income

The Swiss have clearly rejected the universal basic income in a referendum: around 77 percent opposed it while 23 percent voted for the initiative. Commentators argue that now would have been the right time to ensure that people have an income that covers their basic needs.

Debate: Another terrorist attack in Istanbul

At least eleven people were killed on Tuesday in the third major terrorist attack to hit Istanbul within the last six months. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has blamed the PKK for the bombing but ultimately it is he who is responsible for the wave of terror in Turkey, commentators point out.
