Only this year EIT Jumpstarter, a pre-accelerator supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, trained 187 teams to turn their innovative ideas into valid businesses. More than 45 new start-ups have been born in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe with the support of the programme during the last four years.

Railways systems in Europe vary significantly across the EU, adding to the challenge of transporting goods across the single market. Historically, train systems developed nationally, but harmonising them is crucial to shift more transport to rail, the head of the EU Railway Agency told EURACTIV.

A Joint Declaration on EU legislative priorities for 2023 and 2024 was signed today by the Presidents of Parliament, Council and Commission.
