Nem szabad, hogy a gazdasági helyzet javulása, vagy a migrációs dráma elterelje a figyelmet az EU legfontosabb házi feladatairól: a tényleges monetáris unió megteremtéséről és a versenyképesség feltételeinek biztosításáról – vélte EU-értékelő beszédében Herman Van Rompuy, aki szerint az EU-ra leselkedő legnagyobb veszély a visszafordíthatatlan széttöredezettség.

Brüsszeli források szerint „nagy zavararodottságot okozott” bizottsági és diplomáciai körökben, hogy a magyar kormány jelezte: nem kíván élni a legújabb bizottsági javaslatban felajánlott 54 ezer fős menekült-áthelyezési lehetőséggel. A jelek szerint azonban a hétfői belügyminiszterin kisebbségben maradhat a menekültek kötelező áthelyezését elvető magyar álláspont.

A magyar menekültügyi rendszert és a btk-t érintő, szeptember 15-én hatályba lépő törvénymódosítások uniós joggal való összeegyeztethetőségének haladéktalan vizsgálatára sürgette levélben az Európai Bizottság elnökét és első alelnökét az európai liberálisok parlamenti frakciója.

A magyar kormány egyelőre elutasítja a brüsszeli ajánlatot, hogy rendkívüli művelet keretében áthelyeznének 54 ezer hazánkba érkező menedékkérőt más EU-s tagállamokba, értesült az EUrologus diplomáciai forrásokból.

Az európai polgárvédelmi mechanizmus aktiválását kérte a magyar kormány az Európai Bizottságtól – jelentették be a testület péntek déli sajtótájékoztatóján. Donald Tusk rendkívüli EU-csúcsot hívhat össze, ha hétfőn a belügyminiszterek nem tudnak megállapodni a Bizottság új menekültügyi javaslatairól.

I am happy to be in Cyprus today on my first visit as President of the European Council. President Anastasiades, thank you for welcoming me. Our meeting takes place at a challenging time for this island and for Europe. And this is what we have discussed today.

First, I warmly welcome the promising resumption of Cyprus settlement talks. I see a real chance to solve this with both parties committed to achieving a lasting solution. A real interest and willingness to act from all parties is the way forward.

The next three months will be critical to eliminate obstacles to the necessary mutual understanding and trust. I have told President Anastasiades today the European Union will continue full and resolute support to the settlement process within the UN framework. We stand ready to provide whatever practical support both parties and the UN would find most useful.

A historical moment is at hand. It should not be missed. Let me assure you that I am ready to do whatever it takes not to miss this one. To the benefit of all of Cyprus, and of Europe.

We also discussed the Middle East and the role of Cyprus as a regional player. I am grateful for President Anastasiades' constructive contribution to help resolve crises in our neighbourhood. Europe has a huge interest in this part of the world. Recent events have underlined how deeply we are all affected by what happens in our neighbourhood.

In this context we also discussed the refugee crisis. This visit is part of my consultations with Member States on how to tackle this huge challenge, incl. the questions of relocation and resettlement. Cyprus is a good example of a country that is ready to help and show solidarity. The time has come to take decisions. Justice and Home Affairs ministers are meeting Monday at an emergency session. From that meeting we will need a concrete, positive sign of solidarity and unity. After contacts that I had with Member States the last few days, I feel more hopeful today that we are closer to finding a solution based on consensus and genuine solidarity. Without such a decision, I will have to call an emergency meeting of the European Council still in September.

President Anastasiades and I also discussed the economic development of Cyprus. I was pleased to hear how the efforts by the people of Cyprus are bringing positive results. It will be important to maintain this momentum and to advance on structural reforms. This will strengthen public finances and lay the ground for sustained growth and job creation now and in the future. I am thankful for the constructive role you have played and will continue to play in the European Union. Thank you.

Védzáradékot és az euróhoz történő csatlakozás alóli felmentést szorgalmaz az egységes valutaövezeten kívüli EU-tagállamoknak egy uniós politikákra szakosodott vezető brit agytröszt friss tanulmánya, amely kiváló lehetőséget lát a brit tagság feltételeinek újratárgyalásában az eurózónán belüli és kívüli tábor közötti viszonyrendszer újrafogalmazására.

A biztonságos származási országokról készült közös lista nem áshatja alá a menekültek visszazsuppolása tilalmának elvét és az egyén jogát a menedékkérelem benyújtására – figyelmeztetett csütörtöki politikai állásfoglalásában az Európai Parlament, üdvözölve a Bizottság előző nap bemutatott javaslatait a menekültválság kezelésére.

Plenáris ülés : A további százhúszezer menedékkérő áttelepítéséről, a jövőbeli állandó elosztómechanizmusról, a biztonságos országok listájáról, és a törvényes bevándorlási csatornákról szóló új javaslatot mutatott be a Bizottság és vitatott meg a Parlament szerdán. A képviselők cselekvésre szólították fel a tagállamokat, és dicsérettel szóltak azokról az európaiakról, akik segítő kezekkel fogadják a menekülteket.

Plenary sessions : Parliament called on Thursday for a fresh EU approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The EU must fulfil its responsibilities as an influential player and take a bold and comprehensive peace initiative for the region, MEPs said, regretting the lack of a comprehensive and coherent vision of the EU's engagement in the Middle East Peace Process, despite its ambitions there.

Plenary sessions : MEPs urge Russia to release the Estonian Eston Kohver, and Ukrainians Oleg Sentsov, Nadiya Savchenko and Olexandr Kolchenko condemning the "blatant violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Estonia". In three resolutions adopted on Thursday they also call for the release of all political prisoners in Azerbaijan and express concerns at the human rights situation in Angola.

Plenáris ülés : A Parlament készen áll egy hathatós bevándorlás- és menedékpolitikai szabálytervezet-csomag áttekintésére, jelentették ki a képviselők egy csütörtökön elfogadott politikai állásfoglalásban azt követően, hogy üdvözölték az Európai Bizottság szerdán bemutatott új javaslatát a bevándorlók és menekültek eddig nem látott hullámának kezelésére.

Több rekordot is megdöntött Jean-Claude Juncker évértékelő beszéde szerdán az EP ülésén: másfél órás időtartamával minden idők leghosszabb EP-plenáris beszédét mondta el, amelyet szakértők szerint példátlanul sokszor szakított meg egyetértő (jóllehet, nem egyöntetű…) tapsolás. Értékelése középpontjában amúgy a migrációs válság állt, másra szinte alig jutott érdemben ideje.

Brüsszel megint kötelező kvótákkal próbálkozik, de gyorsabban és hatékonyabban küldenék vissza azokat, akik nem szorulnak védelemre.
