On 7 September, the SEDE and EUDS Committees will hold a joint public hearing on the Challenges of the future information environment, with Members of the IMCO and LIBE Committees invited.

Artificial intelligence, synthetic media, algorithmic amplification and agentic systems are rapidly reshaping the information space, creating new opportunities for manipulation and interference, while authoritarian actors increasingly exploit these tools to run influence operations and erode democratic trust. The hearing will examine emerging vectors of interference and discuss how the EU and its partners can strengthen resilience and safeguard democratic values in an increasingly complex information environment.

Findings from the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence's project “NextGen Information Environment” will be presented.
