The NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum, held in Ankara on 7 July 2026, witnessed several announcements of defence industry initiatives that will strengthen NATO's deterrence and defence, and therefore also Finland's security.

The strengthening of the European defence pillar is a key French priority for this Summit. Far from calling into question the transatlantic relationship, it consolidates it.

As part of the NATO Summit in Ankara, the MoND delegation led by Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, participated on July 7th in the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum (NSDIF). The event served as a backdrop for a series of gatherings and signing ceremonies for Memoranda of Understanding regarding multinational cooperation projects and programs.

Canada has decided to procure the same type of submarines as Norway and Germany. Canada's participation in the German-Norwegian submarine programme will strengthen NATO's overall defence capabilities in the north and open up new opportunities for Norwegian industry.

Today, 7 July, in connection with the NATO Summit in Ankara, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that NATO has chosen Saab's GlobalEye as its new Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). This means that NATO will open negotiations with Saab to purchase up to 10 GlobalEye aircraft.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces stocked up on the Spike LR2 missiles worth of over EUR 3 million. The implemented contract was signed with Germany's Euro Spike GmbH.

Today, on the margins of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japan Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, and Republic of Korea Foreign Minister Cho Hyun signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to establish a framework for trilateral cooperation on accelerating small modular reactor (SMR) deployments in other countries, with an initial focus on the Indo-Pacific.
