Chaque mardi, je reçois un membre de l’équipe de recherche de l’‪‪‪‪ IRIS pour décrypter un fait d’actualité internationale. Aujourd’hui, échange avec Christophe Ventura, directeur de recherche à l’IRIS, autour de l’actualité latino-américaine marquée par les actions menées par les États-Unis à l’encontre du Venezuela et par l’élection présidentielle au Chili qui voit le candidat d’extrême droite José Antonio Kast renforcer les relais de Donald Trump dans la région, alors même que l’administration américaine propose un « corollaire » Trump à la doctrine Monroe dans la stratégie de sécurité nationale publiée début décembre.

The US military has seized another oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. This vessel is believed to be the Panama-flagged Centuries. The Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro described the seizure as a "serious act of international piracy". Washington said that the US would continue to crack down on the illegal trade in sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran.
