Nézzen nagy tüzet rakó szerbeket!

Érdekes karácsonyi szokás Szerbiában a tábortűz. Szerbiában is a Julián-naptár szerint ünneplik, ezért január hatodikára esik szenteste, és január hetedike a karácsony napja.  A történet szerint a pásztorok, amikor értesültek Jézus születéséről, ágakat vágtak, és azzal indultak el köszönteni a megváltót, hogy tüzet rakhassanak, és megmelegedjen az újszülött.
A szerbek (és mások is) ilyenkor kivágnak egy fiatal tölgyet, és annak az ágait teszik a kályhába vagy más tűzbe. Esetleg csokorba fognak kisebb ágacskákat belőle, azt feldíszítik és úgy égetik el. A tűzből kipattanó zsarátnok darabok, szikrák nagy száma szimbolizálja azt a gazdagságot és gyarapodást, ami az új évben vár a tűzrakókra. Van, hogy egészen sokan jönnek össze meggyújtani egy "badnjakot" vagy többet. A Telegraf szerint idén a Balkán legnagyobb badnjakját gyújtották meg péntek este Belgrádban a Szent Száva Székesegyháznál.

Akit no commentben érdekel, hogy a vidéki Szerbiában mit csinálnak ilyenkor, aki szereti a szerb zászlóval bőségesen megtűzdelt traktorokat, a pálinkát, és felebaráti szeretetet, az ezt a videót indítsa el.

Conan O'Brien showjában mutatták be, hogy hogy nézett ki kívülről az USA - Szerbia kosárlabda összecsapás az olimpia döntőjében. És tényleg.
