On the last day of the United Kingdom's membership of the EU, European Council President Charles Michel, European Parliament President David Sassoli and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen published an article in several European media.

Representatives of the European Union and the Permanent Representatives of the League of Arab States held the eight meeting of the EU Political and Security Committee and the League of Arab States Permanent Representatives on 23 January 2020 in Brussels, and adopted a joint communiqué.

Erstmals ist Deutschlands Plan für eine Wasserstoffstrategie bekannt geworden. Der Entwurf sieht den Einsatz des CO2-freien Gases in Industrie und Verkehr vor und verspricht viele Millionen für die Forschung. Am Ende wird aber ein Großteil aus dem Ausland eingekauft werden.
