A Sevilla története során második alkalommal védheti meg címét a második számú európai kupasorozatban, míg a Dnyipro első nemzetközi sikerét arathatja az Európa-liga mai fináléjában, amelyet a varsói Nemzeti Stadionban rendeznek meg.

A spanyol együttes rekorderré válhat, négyszer ugyanis még egyetlen csapatnak sem sikerült diadalmaskodnia a jogelőd UEFA-kupában és az El-ben. A Sevillán kívül az Inter, a Juventus és a Liverpool győzött három alkalommal.

A két csapat korábban még nem találkozott egymással, a Dnyipro csak egyszer futballozott spanyol rivális ellen: az UEFA-kupa 2004/2005 csoportkörében 2:1-re kikapott a Real Zaragozától. A Sevilla négy alkalommal csapott össze ukrán ellenféllel, háromszor nyert, egyszer döntetlent játszott.

Spanyol–ukrán döntőt nemzetközi kupasorozatban mindössze egyszer, 1986-ban rendeztek, akkor a Dinamo Kijev 3:0-ra győzött az Atlético Madrid ellen a Kupagyőztesek Európa-kupájának (KEK) fináléjában.

A Sevilla az UEFA-kupában és az El-ben valahányszor döntőbe jutott, mindig győzött: 2006-ban a Middlesbrough-t, 2007-ben az Espanyolt, tavaly pedig a Benficát verte.

A spanyol csapat a legutóbbi kilenc európai kupameccsén veretlen, a Dnyipro négy mérkőzés óta nem talált legyőzőre. Ebben az idényben a Sevilla mérlege az El-ben tíz győzelem, három döntetlen és egy vereség, az ukrán együttes hat siker és négy döntetlen mellett négyszer kapott ki. A csoportkör kezdete óta a Sevilla 12 gólt kapott, a Dnyipro csak 10-et.

A dnyepropetrovszkiak a szervezett védekezésükben bízhatnak, az El idei kiírásában ők követték el a legtöbb szabálytalanságot (247), s ők is szenvedték el a legtöbbet (230). A Dnyipro játékosai eddig 51 sárga lapot gyűjtöttek be, ezzel magasan vezetik a vonatkozó statisztikát, a sevillaiak csupán 31-szer részesültek ilyen figyelmeztetésben.

A tizenegyespárbajokat tekintve a spanyol csapat nemcsak tapasztaltabb, hanem sikeresebb is: története során öt európai kupameccsen kellett büntetőket rúgnia, ebből négyszer győzött, míg a Dnyipro csupán egyszer vívott ilyen párharcot, s azt el is bukta.

A dicsőség mellett a találkozónak óriási anyagi tétje is van, mivel a győztes most először automatikusan a Bajnokok Ligája főtábláján szerepel majd a 2015/2016-os idényben. A BL következő szezonjában – egy komoly növekedést követően – a főtáblás csapatok egyenként 12 millió eurót kapnak, míg az El-ben részt vevők „csak” 2,4 millió euróval gazdagodnak.

May 26, 2015 (JUBA) - South Sudan Council of Church (SSCC) leaders have asked government to urgently tackle the deteriorating economy and end killings in the country.

The clerics, in a statement, said they would not sit idle as civilians suffer in a country “without effective governance”.

“If our statements are not headed, we will take more proactive steps to achieve and reconciliation for the people of South Sudan,” partly reads SSCC's 26 May statement.

“Any long term solution to the conflict must take account of the needs of the ordinary people, not the agenda of the political and military elite,” it stressed.

South Sudan recently witnessed renewed clashes between its military and the armed opposition in Unity and Upper Nile states, displacing tens of thousands of civilians.

Addressing the Security Council last week, the head of United Nations mission in South Sudan, Ellen Margrethe Loj described as “extremely worrying”, the humanitarian situation in the country, appealing to the warring parties to immediately cease hostilities.

The clerics appealed to the country's political and military leaders to listen to voices of church leaders, who speak on behalf of the citizens.

“We seriously doubt whether this new statement will be headed by our leaders, but nevertheless we want them, along with the citizens of South Sudan, our friends in the region and the international community to know that we are watching and we are aware of what is happening,” stressed the statement signed by eight church leaders.

“It is important for us to speak truth to power, even if those in power ignore truth,” it adds.

The religious leaders also warned of new armed rebellions emerging in the country and the increase in hostilities among its communities, a day after the spokesperson for the South Sudanese army admitted that a new rebel group exists in Western Equatoria
state.

Also of concern, they said, were the killings, torture, destruction of properties in the country, further cautioning security operative against taking the law into their hands.
