We should have bought CB90's...

Wed, 15/07/2026 - 08:20
U.S. Marines ride in a Multi-Mission Reconnaissance Craft Bravo at Naha Military Port, Okinawa, Japan, June 10, 2026. Offering superior maneuverability in shallow waters, these boats allow for rapid deployment in support of littoral operations. They are equipped to transport personnel and supplies, ensuring Marine forces maintain operational tempo and sustainment in austere, distributed environments. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Briseida Villasenor)

What does that mission set sound like? Yeah. That fits the CB90 to a tee only it would do it better. Better? I mean its faster, can carry more gear and troops, is out the box ready to mount weapons, launch uavs and sensors too. Did I mention that it is designed to operate in the "littorals"? The Marine Corps once again looked for an elegant solution instead of a ready made one. The USMC isn't threatened by extinction because its a "second land army". Fuck no. The Marine Corps is threatened by extinction because its NO LONGER A BARGAIN FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!! Below is a pick of the boat we should have bought. The mighty CB90!

Israel's civilian leadership seems determined to destroy it....

Sun, 12/07/2026 - 02:16

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz:

The IDF has been instructed by the Prime Minister and by me to prepare for an independent Israeli military operation against Iran. pic.twitter.com/B2ABQguON8

— Clash Report (@clashreport) July 11, 2026 Just plain wow.
Independent action against Iran?  Are they freaking nuts?  I don't see how that's of benefit to the state of Israel.
Their economy is hurting.  Their military is tired.  They're running low on munitions and if they look at what's in the US stockpile then they'll realize we're not flowing with replacements.
I don't understand the thinking.
I've got many Israel haters here but can someone that DOES NOT hate the state explain to me the thinking.

This is the dirty little secret that US car makers don't want known. Chinese cars are better, cheaper and just as reliable as ours are....that's why they're keeping them out of our markets

I need this car pic.twitter.com/EFiBftx8Ja

— sofia (@sofiatieger) July 5, 2026 Elon Musk and Telsa would be out of business in a nano second if Chinese electric cars were sold here (yeah I know Telsa is sold in China but it's the American label that does it). As far as Ford, GM and others? They'd get smashed into the ground. What has me spinning is that everyone talks about free market competition yada-yada but in real life? NOPE! What has always been the conservative pitch? Let markets decide? Not applicable when it comes to cars and that's smashing US consumers. Great for auto unions but not for most.

South Central Louisiana got smashed

Fri, 19/06/2026 - 04:44

This is just regional news from my neck of the woods but South Central Louisiana got smashed by a weird, slow moving tropical storm.

My area was mostly spared.  The earlier rans (lasted all week) were bad enough with flooding widespread.  Some roads flooded but the damage was relatively (looking at it from the view of a person who's has was damaged) bearable.

Not the case for Avoyelles Parish.  Its basically a farming community, with great hunting, fishing and the little festivals are freaking awesome.  Plenty of bayous that are remarkably clear, quite scenic and make for a good sunday drive.

We're kinda different down here.  Two lane roads are labeled as highways and for the most part well maintained.

The storm changed everything.  You won't know the communities but I'll name them anyway.  Cottonport was harmed with a couple of bayous rising so high that they flooded the highway leading there. Moreau had water so high (I never dreamed that it could flood to the extent that I saw) that the Sheriff's Dept was making water rescues in Air Boats and other watercraft.  Marksville, the Parish Sea was basically shut down.

State Police, Game Wardens, Sheriff's Depts, Fire and other agencies stepped up hard and made a bad day somewhat better.  Damage is widespread but I have yet to hear of loss of life.

Pray for all affected.  Many are gonna have a hard time recovering.

— U.S. Marines (@USMC) June 18, 2026 Congratulations to Maj Capers, Col Ripley and Maj Dockery (his actions are definitely worthy). Col Ripley has been an icon in the Marine Corps forver, Maj Capers achievement is also been lifted as an example to junior Marines (although from what I've read he was always considered a lion in the Recon/Force Recon community). They're more famous than Maj Dockery but if he research is action on his own "bad day" then you'll be equally in awe of hs actions. America has always had heroes and these men remind us all of how we should conduct ourselves when sugar turns to shit.

Happening Now: President Donald J. Trump awards the Medal of Honor to Maj. Nicholas Dockery, U.S. Army, retired; Maj. James Capers Jr., U.S. Marine Corps, retired; and Col. John W. Ripley, U.S. Marine Corps, posthumously at the @WhiteHouse. https://t.co/R547saaZUc

Impressive little one...

Fri, 12/06/2026 - 23:13
When I first saw the vid and saw her pre-lift shennanigans I was like WTF! Then I realized that her dad had taken the time to get her involved in the sport, probably by having her watch him workout and then by her WANTING to do it too and she was simply modeling his behavior before a heavy lift. So good on her and her dad. I consider this impressive by any standard. Well done.
