At the initiative of the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Evelyn Regner, and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, the European Parliament will hold its third European Gender Equality Week during the last week of October 2022.

Following the success of the first two European Gender Equality Weeks organised in October 2020 and 2021, the European Parliament will continue this important initiative and hold the second European Gender Equality Week during the last week of October 2022. All parliamentary committees and delegations were invited to hold events addressing gender inequality issues in their areas of competence.

In the framework of the Gender equality week, SEDE Members will hold on 26 October an exchange of views on the operational support to women, peace and security through the EU's CSDP missions and operations. Since the adoption of the UNSCR resolution 1325, which marked a milestone in recognizing the essential role of women in maintaining and promoting peace and security, numerous initiatives have been taken on the EU level to systematically integrate a gender perspective in all of the Union's external actions. During the debate in SEDE, three advisors deployed in different missions and operations - EUAM Iraq, EUTM Mozambique and EUAM Ukraine - will share their experiences, and provide factual overviews of the main achievements, best practices and areas where further improvements are needed.

The Subcommittee on Security and Defence will discuss with Dr Antoine Bondaz, Research fellow and director at the FRS, the new tactics used by China to apply military coercion on Taiwan on 10 October. The debate will look into hybrid warfare tools used by China to intimidate the island, Members will assess the security situation in the region, and discus possible strategy the EU could adopt to deter China from unilaterally changing the status quo in the region.

The ING2 meeting on Thursday 29 September from 9.00 to 12.30 will start with a hearing on "Russian disinformation and propaganda regarding Ukraine in the light of its war of aggression and its impact on democratic processes in the European Union".
Members will exchange views with experts about the tactics and techniques used by the Kremlin in spreading disinformation and propaganda around Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, and what impact these narratives have on the EU's democratic processes.

The invited experts are:

• Olga Rudenko, Editor-in-chief, Kyiv Independent,
• Michael Sheldon, Researcher, Bellingcat,
• Ross Burley, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Centre for Information Resilience.

The meeting will be held in association with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) and the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (D-RU).

The Subcommittee on Security and Defence will debate with Deputy Minister of Defence Jan Jireš, who will present the priorities of the Czech Presidency in the area of security and defence on 26 September. The discussions will focus on the proposed Regulation establishing the European Defence Industry Reinforcement through common Procurement Act, the ongoing work on development of the Hybrid Toolbox, and the proposal to establish a European Union Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine.
