On 5 October 2020, the Eurogroup adopted its work programme until June 2021, focusing on the economy, financial issues and the euro.

The Eurogroup gave its support to the candidacy of Frank Elderson to become the new member of the European Central Bank's executive board.

The EU issued a declaration stating that the so-called ‘inauguration’ of 23 September 2020 and the new mandate claimed by Aleksandr Lukashenko in Belarus lack any democratic legitimacy.
