France will focus on increasing its nuclear arsenal and use it to enhance Europe's collective security, President Emmanuel Macron stated in his speech on the update to the country's nuclear doctrine. He also mentioned the possibility of relocating French nuclear weapons to other European countries. Shortly after the speech, France and Germany issued a joint statement establishing a "steering group" for closer cooperation on deterrence.

Au Bénin, l’ancien chef d’État et opposant, Thomas Boni Yayi, se retire de ses fonctions à la tête des Démocrates et cesse ses activités politiques au sein de cette formation. Il l’a annoncé dans un courrier adressé au parti. Thomas Boni Yayi explique sa décision par « des raisons de santé », il indique qu’il veut pouvoir pleinement consacrer cette nouvelle étape de sa vie « au repos ». La direction des Démocrates, qui est le principal parti d’opposition au Bénin, est confiée aux vice-présidents et aux instances dirigeantes jusqu’au prochain congrès.
