EZEN A NAPON EMLÉKSZÜNK RÁ:

Popovics Bazil (Vazul) (Magyarkomját, Ugocsa megye, 1796. szeptember 2. – Ungvár, 1864. október 19. Munkácsi görög katolikus püspök. Gimnáziumi tanulmányait Nagykárolyban, Máramarosszigeten és Ungváron, a teológiát Pesten végezte.  1820-ban szentelték pappá. 1820-21-ben Szolyván működött, majd Máramarosszigeten lett káplán. 1822-ben az eperjesi egyházmegye első püspöke, Tarkovics Gergely titkárává választotta, ezt a tisztséget 1835-ig töltötte be.  1835-36-ban az eperjesi egyházmegye kanonokja volt. 1837. március 16-án nevezték ki a munkácsi egyházmegye püspökévé. Felhívása nyomán 1848 májusában 35 ungvári papnövendék állt be honvédnek. Popovics püspök 1849 júliusában az ungvári vadaskerti mezőn ünnepélyes keretek között megáldotta a magyar és ruszin honvédekből álló zászlóalj lobogóját, majd a püspöki palotában megvendégelte a Kazinczy-hadtest tisztikarát. Hazafias magatartásáért Kossuth Magyarország prímásává akarta kineveztetni. A szabadságharc bukása után Popovicsnak menekülnie kellett az Ungvárra bevonuló orosz csapatok elől. Rokonainál, az Ugocsa megyei Kisrákócon rejtőzött. 1849 szeptemberében tért vissza Ungvárra, ahol 13 hónapig tartották házi őrizetben. Végül kegyelmet kapott. Korszerűsíttette Bacsinszky András eddig használatos katekizmusát, 1858-ban felújíttatta az ungvári görög katolikus székesegyházat, élete utolsó hónapjaiban közreműködött a Szent Bazil Társulat megszervezésében.

KIT NYERTÉL MEG KRISZTUSNAK?

Egyszer egy lelkész azt mondta egy nagyáruház igazgatójának: „Már sokszor beszélgettem önnel szőnyegekről, ágyneműkről és mindenféle lakberendezési tárgyakról, de még sosem beszélgettünk arról, amivel én foglalkozom. Lenne rám néhány perce?” Miután az igazgató bevezette őt a saját irodájába, a lelkész elővette Újszövetségét, és arra biztatta az igazgatót, hogy legyen keresztyénné. A férfi arcán könnyek kezdtek peregni, miközben így szólt: „Hetven éves vagyok. Ebben a városban születtem, és üzleti kapcsolatban álltam száznál több lelkésszel, és ötszáznál is több egyházi tisztviselővel mindenféle felekezetből. De Ön az egyetlen, aki valaha is a lelkemről beszélgetett velem.” Ez az ember aznap letérdelt, és átadta életét Krisztusnak. Szeretet akarunk, pedig még lovunk sincs! Azt gondoljuk, hogy ha elhívunk embereket a gyülekezetbe, akkor majd valahogy megváltódnak. Hála Istennek, hogy ez is megtörténik. De amikor az újszövetségi gyülekezet tagjai összegyülekeztek ünnepelni, általában már megnyerte őket valaki Krisztusnak, mielőtt odaértek az istentiszteletre! Krisztus életének utolsó perceiben is megmentett egy lelket. Utolsó parancsa az volt hozzánk, hogy lelkeket nyerjünk meg! Utolsó imája a kereszten megbocsátást kért mások számára. Nincs szükséged különösebb teológiai képzettségre, csak szeretned kell Jézust. Ha szereted őt, ez meglátszik arcodon, és megérződik szavaidon. Jézus azt mondta: „Én pedig, ha felemeltetem a földről, magamhoz vonzok mindeneket” (János 12:32). Ne izgulj amiatt, hogy te nem tudsz Krisztushoz vonzani embereket – csak mutasd be nekik őt, a vonzás az ő dolga!

September 1, 2015 (JUBA) - South Sudan's governing Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) would make reconciliation, unity and forgiveness a top priority during the transitional period of the government of national unity, a leading official said on Tuesday.

Former South Sudanese cabinet affairs minister, Deng Alor Kuol, said Tuesday the work of the secretary general of the SPLM, Pagan Amum, as chief administrator in the party, would be dedicated to organising the party.

“The launch of the national reconciliation would be the priority of the SPLM leadership during the transitional period. This work will be spearheaded and supported by the entire secretariat and the leadership of the SPLM to achieve peace, unity, reconciliation and forgiveness,” Kuol told Sudan Tribune in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

“I am sure comrade Pagan Amum in his capacity as the secretary general will devote time and energy to overseeing any initiative aimed at uniting the party, uniting the ranks of the leadership and our people,” he said.

The leading official underscored that the recently signed peace should not be read as a reward or return to the status quo but rather an opportunity to allow the ruling party to correct itself and accept their actions.

“There can be no agreement with provisions satisfying the wants and desires of all the parties. Agreement world over are means of resolving problems. They are not the end to the problem. We all have to talk about peace and always nurture it for us to success as a nation. We should not let revenge rule our lives,” he added.

While stressing on the significance of the plan for national reconciliation, he left details vague on precise timetable for foreign troops to withdraw from the country, and laws disqualifying former members of the party who may be found to have masterminded and played an important role in fermenting the conflict from important jobs.

He also failed to offer a clear view on any strategy for disarming the militias, which are currently seen as the greatest security threat.

Observers are keen to note that any amnesty for militants will not apply to people who have perpetrated violent acts but would not be possible without mutually transformative engagement with partner organizations and leaders who provide various gifts and resources to the initiative.

He urged state residents to prioritise peace and provide support in the implementation of the peace deal which President Salva Kiir has signed, saying it provides an opportunity to resolving the differences and putting the country on the right path instead of putting personal ambition and interests to jeopardise efforts to bring peace to the country, following the signing of regional backed peace deal.

Kuol was one of former detainees who were detained for months by president Kiir's government following eruption of violence in Juba in December 2013.

He was also dismissed by president Kiir before violence after he was accused of involvement in corruption involving millions of dollars while a cabinet minister.

The United Nations General Assembly today approved a resolution sending the draft ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ to Member States for adoption later this month, bringing the international community “to the cusp of decisions that can help realize the… dream of a world of peace and dignity for all,” according to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

La dernière audience du procès en appel de Floribert Chebeya a eu lieu lundi 31 août. Floribert Chebeya, militant des droits de l'homme, a été retrouvé mort dans sa voiture le 1er juin 2010 après avoir été convoqué au siège de l'Inspection générale de la police pour y rencontrer le général Numbi qui en était le chef. Les proches du militant des droits de l'homme et de son chauffeur Fidèle Bazana, dont le corps n'a jamais été retrouvé, attendent maintenant le verdict de la Haute Cour militaire de Kinshasa d'ici une quinzaine de jours. Si au cours de ce procès en appel le ministère public a requis à nouveau la prison à perpétuité pour les cinq policiers qui étaient rejugés, les parties civiles déplorent que ce deuxième procès n'ait pas permis d'entendre le général Numbi. Le chef de la police à l'époque aura été comme en première instance, le grand absent du procès alors qu'il est considéré par les familles comme le suspect numéro 1.
