BAE Systems to deliver Mk 38 machine gun for Canadian Navy

(B2) Le Bataillon de Chasseurs à Cheval assurera dès septembre et pour 4 mois, la « force protection » de la mission de formation de l’armée malienne (EUTM Mali). Ce bataillon ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target acquisition and Reconnaissance), a terminé fin juillet son entraînement à Bourg-Léopold en simulant des situations semblables à celles qu’il pourrait rencontrer lors de la protection du camp d’instruction de Koulikoro ou des escortes en direction ou depuis la capitale malienne de Bamako, comme l’a expliqué le lieutenant-colonel Francis Pierard, commandant du bataillon ISTAR : « barrage routier lors d’une patrouille, civils maliens tentant d’assiéger le camp ou mystérieux véhicule suivant un convoi du bataillon ».

NB : la situation s’est tendue dans la capitale malienne, qui avait été épargnée jusqu’ici par la guerre, après différents attentats à Bamako cette année, qui ont fait plusieurs victimes dont un agent de l’UE.
