On note que les membres du groupe de malfrats, sont en majorité des repris de justice et certains bénéficiaient d'une semi-liberté. Au nombre de 9, ils s'étaient spécialisés dans les vols à main armée, le détournement de marchandises, le recel et le blanchiment de capitaux.

Pour appâter leurs victimes, les bandits se faisaient passer pour des locateurs de véhicule dans le transport de marchandises au niveau du port de Lomé. Ils ciblaient ainsi les marchandises en transit sur le territoire national vers d'autres pays.

Pour parvenir à leurs fins, ils utilisaient de fausses identités et des puces téléphoniques qui n'étaient pas identifiées sous leur vraie identité pour rester en contact avec les propriétaires des marchandises.

Une fois qu'ils arrivaient à conclure un marché avec un propriétaire de marchandises en lui trouvant un véhicule pour le transport, ces malfrats qui étaient armés, mettaient un système de suivi du trajet du véhicule en vue de l'intercepter à l'entrée de la ville de Ouagadougou.

Lorsque le véhicule avec sa cargaison était intercepté, la marchandise était, dans un premier temps, déchargée dans un magasin qu'ils avaient préalablement loué. Ensuite, ils vidaient immédiatement la marchandise dudit magasin pour livrer à leurs receleurs qu'ils avaient auparavant contactés. Les gains obtenus étaient partagés entre les membres du groupe.

Il faut relever que le gang a à son actif plusieurs cas de détournements de camions et le préjudice subi par les victimes est pestimé à environ 100.000.000 FCFA.

Tout en remerciant les populations pour leur collaboration, la Police Nationale les exhorte à la vigilance et à toujours continuer dans cette dynamique de dénonciation des cas suspects aux numéros verts que sont les 17, 16 et 1010.
