The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for purchase of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System-II Guidance Sections and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $1.041 billion.

The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Kuwait for purchase of Patriot Missile Repair and Return services and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $400 million.

The Federal Government has decided to extend the mandate for the deployment of the Federal Armed Forces in Iraq. The aim is to further stabilise the country and prevent a resurgence of the terrorist organisation known as Islamic State (IS--Islamic State).

20 years after the assassination of the Russian journalist, the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) will pay tribute to Anna Politkovskaya on 5 October 2026, from 19:30 to 20:30.

Organised jointly with the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (D-RU), the meeting will also be an opportunity to shed light on the struggle for fundamental freedoms and against impunity in Russia, in an exchange with the journalist's grand-daughter and political activist Anna-Victoria Politkovskaya, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in the Russian Federation Mariana Katzarova and Editor-in-Chief of Novaya Gazeta Europe Kirill Martynov.

La Cour pénale internationale (CPI) fait aujourd’hui l’objet de nombreuses tentatives de déstabilisation de la part de l’administration Trump, qui a fait de son démantèlement « brique par brique » une mission. L’hostilité des États-Unis à l’égard de la CPI n’est pas nouvelle : cette offensive intervient en réaction aux enquêtes et procédures engagées par la Cour concernant d’un côté la situation en Afghanistan, risquant de mettre en cause l’armée américaine ; de l’autre la situation en Palestine, procédure qui a donné lieu à l’émission d’un mandat d’arrêt à l’encontre notamment de Benyamin Netanyahou en novembre 2024.

L’administration Trump a néanmoins franchi un nouveau cap depuis son retour aux affaires, en imposant des sanctions d’ampleur à l’encontre de plusieurs magistrats de la Cour et en multipliant les appels aux États parties au statut de Rome à s’en retirer. Face à cette offensive contre une institution au cœur du droit international, la réaction européenne reste timorée.
