Két évvel az elindítása után az Európai Bizottság december 7-én továbblépett a hazánkkal szemben az ország menekültügyi szabályozása miatt indult kötelezettségszegési eljárásban. A kormánynak két hónapja van a válaszra, itt is érik egy per az Európai Bíróságon.

Az ismert álláspontokat fejtették ki az EP állampolgári és bel- és igazságügyi szakbizottsága által a magyarországi jogállamisági helyzetről tartott nyilvános meghallgatáson a kormányzat és a meghívott civil szervezetek előadói. Az EP jelentéstevője fontosnak érezte hangoztatni, hogy a kérdés felvetése "nem Magyarország ellen irányul", hanem bizonyos kormányzati lépéseket vizsgál. Magyar néppárti képviselők kettős mércét emlegettek.

Az Európai Bizottság egyetlen napon belül három különböző ügyben is az Európai Bíróság elé viszi Magyarországot. A testület a felsőoktatási és a civil törvény, továbbá a kötelező ideiglenes menekültkvóták ügyében is keresetet nyújt be a Bírósághoz, a harmadik és végső szakaszba léptetve ezzel a kötelezettségszegési eljárást. A Bizottság ugyanakkor kész lehet arra, hogy rugalmasabban viszonyuljon a kötelező menekültkvóta kérdéséhez a dublini reformmal összefüggésben.
