The Committees on Development (DEVE) and on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), as well as the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) and the Committee for are sending a delegation to the United Nations Global Refugee Forum in Geneva from 13 to 15 December 2023. The second Global Refugee Forum will provide an opportunity to build on the significant progress made by governments and other stakeholders towards the implementation of the pledges and initiatives announced since 2019. Vice-president Marc Angel will participate in the Forum on behalf of the EP President MEPs taking part in the delegation will evaluate the role of EU action on refugee and migration situations in its internal and external policies, and in its three faceted capacity of host, partner and donor. Besides, they will liaise with other EU institutions, member countries as well as third countries, in particular those hosting large numbers of refugees and migrants, and civil society.
On Monday, 11 December 2023, Members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Committee on Development and Sub-committee on Human Rights will meet 2023 Sakharov Prize laureates: Jina Mahsa Amini and the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, represented by Afsoon Najafi and Mersedeh Shahinkar.
By awarding the 2023 Sakharov Prize to Jina Mahsa Amini and the Woman, Life, Freedom Movement in Iran, the Parliament recognises their brave efforts to stand up for fundamental rights and women's rights. Through this debate, Members will have the opportunity to express their strong support for the aspiration of the Iranian people to live in a free, stable, inclusive and democratic country.
La première édition de la semaine des droits des personnes personnes en situation de handicap qu'il s'apprête à organiser, du 27 novembre au 4 décembre, permettra d'analyser les initiatives existantes pour protéger et autonomiser les personnes personnes en situation de handicap, ainsi que de réfléchir aux défis qui restent à relever et de concevoir de nouvelles actions.
Plusieurs commissions ont prévu des votes, des débats et des événements portant sur les politiques relatives au handicap.

Upholding the values of respect for human rights and international law in the EU external and extraterritorial actions and cooperation in the area of migration has been a priority of the European Parliament for many years. In April 2023, Parliament approved its position on the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. Members will discuss with experts concrete ways to support an inclusive vision of human rights into the EU approach on migration.
