A Tanács a mai napon rendeletet fogadott el, amely egy újabb évre, 2024. júniusig megújította az EU-ba irányuló ukrán exportra vonatkozó összes vám, kvóta és kereskedelempolitikai védintézkedés felfüggesztését. Azáltal, hogy megújítja ezeket az intézkedéseket, az EU ismételten bizonyítja, hogy megingathatatlan az Oroszország által provokáció nélkül indított, indokolatlan katonai agresszióval továbbra is szembesülő Ukrajna iránti politikai és gazdasági támogatása.

WTO: a Tanács a környezeti fenntarthatóság fokozása céljából jóváhagyta a halászati támogatásokról szóló megállapodást A Tanács 2023. május 25-én határozatot fogadott el, amellyel jóváhagyja a Kereskedelmi Világszervezet (WTO) halászati támogatásokról szóló megállapodását létrehozó jegyzőkönyvnek az EU nevében történő megkötését. A WTO halászati támogatásokról szóló megállapodása az első olyan WTO-megállapodás, amely az ENSZ 14.6. fenntartható fejlődési céljával összhangban a környezeti fenntarthatóságra összpontosít.

At the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the European Central Bank, President Michel emphasised the key role the institution and the euro play in boosting European sovereignty.

Today the Council adopted its negotiating mandate to start talks with the European Parliament on a proposal to update EU legislation on cross-border waste shipments. The aim is to ensure that international shipments of waste don’t pose a threat to human health and the environment, and to promote the use of waste as a resource in a circular economy.
