Highlights - Hearing on "China’s interference and disinformation activities in Africa" - Committee on Foreign Affairs

Mon, 14/11/2022 - 12:14
The November 17 hearing on “China’s interference and disinformation activities in Africa” will tackle Chinese interference and disinformation activities in Africa. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has an increasing commercial presence on the continent, as Africa represents a major purveyor of natural resources and raw materials, and the risk that this presence develops itself in malicious interference in the domestic political affairs of a number of African countries should be analysed.
The Special Committee ING2 has invited following experts:

  • Mr Bruno Breton, CEO and Chairman, BLOOM Social Analytics
  • Mr Christof Hartmann, Professor for International Relations and African Politics, Duisburg-Essen University
  • Mr George Sarpong, Lawyer, Journalist and Executive Secretary of Ghana's National Media Commission

The hearing will be held in association with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), the Committee on Development (DEVE), and the EP Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (DACP).
