The Council adopted restrictive measures targeting the Belarusian economy, in light of the regime’s involvement in Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine.

During the press conference held at the end of the European Council meeting of 27 June 2024, President Charles Michel presented the main results on appointments and nominations for EU top jobs, the Strategic Agenda 2024-2029, Ukraine, the Middle East, security and defence and competitiveness, among other things.

On 27 June, the European Council adopted conclusions on Ukraine, the Middle East, security and defence, competitiveness, other items, the next institutional cycle and a roadmap for future work on internal reforms.

European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Joint Security Commitments between the European Union and Ukraine in the margins of the European Council meeting of 27 June 2024.
