Mongolia hosts the 11th ASEM Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM11) in July 2016 in Ulaanbaatar. The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an informal process of dialogue and cooperation bringing together the 28 European Union member states, 2 other European countries, and the European Union with 21 Asian countries and the ASEAN Secretariat. The ASEM dialogue addresses political, economic and cultural issues, with the objective of strengthening the relationship between the two regions, in a spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership.

On Thursday, 7 July, EU interior ministers discuss in Bratislava the issues related to the protection of borders and the Schengen area. The informal meeting will take place in the presence of the Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos. On Friday, 8 July, there will be an informal meeting of the Ministers of Justice of all 28 EU Member states. The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic, Ms Lucia Žitňanská. The topics for discussion are: the proposal for the European Prosecutor´s Office, e-Justice with special regard to the use of electronic communication in cross-border cases and cybercrime.

Argentina has a long tradition of European immigration which has led to strong economic, social and cultural transatlantic links with the European Union. The Framework Trade and Economic Co-operation Agreement between the EU and Argentina entered into force in 1990. The partnership between Ethiopia and the EU is based on the Africa-EU strategic partnership and the Cotonou Agreement, which defines relations between the EU and Africa collectively, and between the EU and ACP countries. Article 8 of the Cotonou Agreement provides the basis for political relations and dialogue between Ethiopia and the EU.
