A díjat minden évben olyan fiataloknak ítélik oda, akik tevékenységükkel hozzájárulnak az európaiak közti kölcsönös megértés javításához. A győztes projekteket népszerűsítik majd a médiában Európa-szerte és pénzjutalmat kapnak, hogy továbbfejleszthessék programjaikat. A pályázatok beadási határideje 2017. február 20.

Általános : Az EP-képviselők és a nemzeti parlamentek képviselőiaz európai parlamenti hét keretében az Unió gazdaságpolitikájáról, a munkanélküliség kérdéséről és a növekedés előmozdításáról egyeztetnek. Szerdán és csütörtökön plenáris ülés lesz Brüsszelben, ahol az EP-képviselők többek között vitáznak az energiaunióról és szavaznak a mezőgazdaságban használt biztonságosabb növényvédő szerek bevezetéséről.

The provisional deal with the Council on the updated EU firearms directive was endorsed by Parliament’s Internal Market Committee on Thursday by 25 votes to nine, with two abstentions. The revised law tightens the controls on blank firing and inadequately deactivated weapons like those used in the Paris terror attacks. It also requires EU countries to have a monitoring system in place for the issuance or renewal of licences and to exchange information with one another.

The provisional deal on the revision of the EU firearms directive, which sets out the conditions under which private persons may lawfully acquire and possess guns or transfer them to another EU country, was backed by the Internal Market Committee on 26 January 2017. The vote by the full Parliament is expected to take place in March.

EU member states should encourage rabbit farmers to phase out conventional battery cages and replace them with healthier but affordable alternatives, such as park or pen farming systems, says the Agriculture Committee in a resolution voted on Wednesday. MEPs argue that improving rabbits’ welfare and living conditions would help prevent disease, thus reducing the need for intensive use of antibiotics that might end up in the human food chain.

The share of waste to be recycled should be raised to 70% by 2030, from 44% today, while landfilling, which has a big environmental impact, should be limited to 5%, said Environment Committee MEPs on Tuesday, as they amended the draft EU “waste package” legislation. They also advocate a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030.

Általános : Az EU és Kanada közötti szabadkereskedelmi egyezményről (CETA) kedden szavaz a nemzetközi kereskedelmi szakbizottság, majd később az EP plenáris ülése is. De messze nem ez az egyetlen kereskedelmi egyezmény, amelyről az EU jelenleg tárgyalásokat folytat. A megállapodásokat az Európai Parlamentnek is jóvá kell hagynia ahhoz, hogy hatályba lépjenek, összeszedtük, hol tartanak a tárgyalások és mit érdemes tudni az Unió kereskedelmi egyezményeiről.

Általános : Az EU–Kanada szabadkereskedelmi megállapodásról szavaz a nemzetközi kereskedelmi szakbizottság kedden. A környezetvédelmi szakbizottság EP-képviselői az újrahasznosítást ösztönző szabályokról döntenek. A szakbizottságok üléseznek a héten az EP-ben, összefoglaltuk a főbb témákat.

Plenáris ülés : Az EP-képviselők Antonio Tajanit választották az Európai Parlament elnökévé kedden, majd szerdán kijelölték az EP 14 alelnökét, valamint az adminisztratív- és pénzügyekért felelős 5 quaestort. Plenáris ülés : Egy, a szociális jogokat garantáló Unió kialakítása mindig is kiemelt helyen szerepelt az integráció prioritásai között, az EP szerint szükség van azonban az Unió szociális pillérének felülvizsgálatára, hogy megfeleljen a mai kihívásoknak és lefedje a digitális forradalommal újonnan megjelent munkaköröket is. Plenary sessions : MEPs have voted to return to the EU Commission its blacklist of countries deemed to be at risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. The list is too limited, and should be expanded, e.g. to include territories that facilitate tax crimes, they said before voting the resolution on Thursday.
