European Council

The EU issued a declaration stating that the so-called ‘inauguration’ of 23 September 2020 and the new mandate claimed by Aleksandr Lukashenko in Belarus lack any democratic legitimacy.

The Special European Council will take place on 1 and 2 October in the Europa building in Brussels.

President Charles Michel met President Nicos Anastasiades in Nicosia. He reiterated the EU’s complete solidarity with Cyprus.

European Council President Michel, European Commission President von der Leyen, German Chancellor Merkel and Chinese President Xi met by video conference. They discussed EU-China relations including climate change, economic and trade issues.
